| Σχόλιο για τις αξίες | This is an important site for breeding raptors and species associated with open montane habitats. Breeding birds include some of the species in Europe that are restricted (when breeding) to the Mediterranean biome. Species of concern include Aquila chrysaetos, Hieraaetus fasciatus, Falco naumanni, Sylvia rueppelli and Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax.Mt.Taigetos includes a large variety of biotopes offering shelter in many Greek endemic plant taxa, some out of these being locally endemic to Taigetos. The low altitude gorges at the peripheral of the mountain are of great importance for birds of prey. |
