This mountain has a concentration of many rare plants for Greece with restricted distribution. The rare plant communities on the cliffs of the peaks of Mount Falakro and the grasslands of the area are of great importance. They also form a wide multi-colour garden during the May and June. There are rich forests of coniferous and broad leaved species on the lower altitudes. Concerning the fauna the quality of the site is indicated by the occurence of the invertebrate Maculinea alcon which is refered to IUCN Conservation Monitoring Centre 1988. 1988 IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals, the invertebrate Neptis sappho which is refered to Koomen P., van Helsdingen P.J. 1993.
